clear bracesNo one is perfect, but have you ever noticed that your own little imperfections are the first thing you see when you meet someone new? So, if a perfectly straight and beautiful smile always is what you notice first, then maybe you should consider orthodontics. For adults, the clear choice is Invisalign®. With clear braces, Sugar Land, TX, residents can go through orthodontic treatment and you and your dental team may ever know.

Invisalign, as the name suggests, straightens teeth almost invisibly. With clear plastic aligners, your teeth are moved into correct alignment. Invisalign is appropriate for a number of orthodontic problems including:

  • Crooked teeth
  • An incorrect bite
  • Overbite
  • Underbite
  • Cross bite

In addition to being practically imperceptible, Invisalign clear braces are also removable. This is a distinct advantage over traditional braces for two reasons. First, you’ll be able to remove your aligners to eat whatever you like. Metal braces necessitate curtailing your diet to avoid things like sticky candy, hard carrot sticks, popcorn and chewing gum. Secondly, by removing your clear braces you can carry on with your daily routine of brushing and flossing. Those who wear metal braces run an increased risk of decay or gum disease, because oral hygiene is more complicated and time-consuming. You’ll need to wear your clear braces for at least 22 hours a day in order to complete treatment on schedule.

The Invisalign Process

Before beginning any orthodontic treatment, you’ll need to schedule a dental cleaning and exam. Dr. Davey will first want to make sure your teeth and gums are healthy. Then, we’ll take a comprehensive set of photos, impressions and digital x-rays that will be forwarded to Invisalign. At the Invisalign lab, these form the basis of the virtual 3D image used to fabricate your customized aligners. Invisalign clear braces arrive at our Sugar Land dental office in an organized package of sets. We’ll give you a few sets at a time; just wear each set for two weeks, throw them away and move on to the next set. Dr. Davey will need to see you every six to eight weeks to check your progress and give you the next group of sets. Otherwise, Invisalign aligners do the job all by themselves—unlike traditional braces which need regular adjustments.
